We will be walking/rolling by the river in Guelph, on the afternoon of Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. The event will start and end at John McCrae Public School, 189 Water Street, Guelph.

3:00 p.m. - Gathering in the gym

3:15 p.m. - Opening remarks

3:30 p.m. - Walk/Roll Gordon St. to Edinburgh Rd.

4:00 p.m. -  Hot chocolate and cookies in the gym. Bring your own mug.

Come for part or all of the event.

About ALS:

ALS is a terminal disease, with no treatment or cure. It takes away people’s ability to walk, talk, swallow, and eventually breathe.

Information about Margie’s diagnosis:

Last spring, Margie started limping but didn’t know why. In August, she discovered she had drop foot and swallowing was getting harder. Margie stopped teaching Grade 1 at the end of September. In November, she was diagnosed with ALS, and unfortunately it’s progressing quite quickly. Margie’s currently using a power wheelchair and her speech and fine motor skills are also impacted.

We are very grateful for the incredible support we have from excellent health care professionals, and from our amazing family and friends who have been showering us with love, food and so much more. We know that many of you want to help, so we’re inviting you to participate in our fundraiser.

Supporting ALS Canada:

Support for our fundraiser will help to create a better reality for people and families living with ALS by enabling access to services and equipment. We have benefitted greatly from equipment from ALS Canada, including a ramp, commode, power wheelchair, and more. Funds raised will also support research so that one day soon, ALS will be a treatable disease. Many leading ALS researchers believe that effective treatment options are now a matter of when, not if, and that research discovery is limited only by the amount of funding available to pursue it. This makes our fundraiser an important vehicle for progress, so please support our efforts.

All donations will receive a tax receipt.

Please know you do not need to contribute to the fundraising to join us on the walk/roll. Everyone is welcome!

A personal funding page has also been set up to help support the family and Sequoia’s future - https://www.gofundme.com/f/baskinjohnson-family-ALS

Thank you.

With love,

Margie, Shannon and Sequoia
