Dear Family and Friends:
On July 22nd 2024, at the age of 70, our loving father, husband, and friend Kris Johansen passed away after a challenging 4 year journey with ALS. Kris loved his live and he loved his people. He took great pleasure in the simple things in life: a great meal, ice cream, an afternoon on the boat on Lake Huron, good music, strumming a guitar, having a beer with the guys, playing with his grandkids, and sharing long chats and lots of laughs with dear family and friends.
Kris and his family thank those special people in his life who continued to check in, offer support, and include him even when his activities became limited. Your kindness and companionship meant the world to him and to us. Love and laughter defined Kris' story and he felt truly blessed. Kris is gone far too soon, but he left this world knowing he was deeply loved. He will remain forever in our hearts.
We have decided to create a fundraiser to do our part to challenge ALS. As you know ALS is a devastating disease with no treatments or cure. ALS is a terminal disease that takes away peoples ability to walk, talk, and eventually breathe. With your support, we can change all that.
Support from our campaign will help to create a better reality for people and families living with ALS by enabling access to support services and equipment. Funds raised will also support research so that one day soon ALS will be a treatable, not terminal disease. Many leading ALS researchers believe that effective treatment options are now a matter of when, not if and that research discovery is limited only by the amount of funding available to pursue it. This makes our fundraiser an important vehicle for progress, so please support our efforts, in honour of Kris.
