I am participating in the 2019 Walk to End ALS to honour my brother Tim. As most of you know Tim, passed away in 2016. There are many families living with ALS with an increasing number of new diagnoses. That's what motivates Jim, Tannis, Lily and I to keep to keep fundraising to find a cure for ALS and to help support families who are affected by this terrible disease.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a terminal disease that takes away people’s ability to walk, talk, and eventually breathe on their own. This cause is very important to our family and your support makes an immediate impact.
Your support will help to:
create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based support throughout Ontario - like in-home visits and support groups – as well as delivering necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.
further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
